This February i was in Berlin Germany attending the 58th Berlin Film Festival, a pre-cursor to the Oscar awards. I was attending the Berlinale Talent campus and apart from the chilly weather i had another reason to be glad to visit Berlin.
This is where all the madness in Africa sprung from.
This is where the Berlin Conference: The General Act of Feb. 26, 1885 was signed and partitioned 1000 plus independent nations (not tribes) into some 53 feuding states forced to come together because of the powers that be.
Of course this general and barbaric behaviour of European powers came to haunt me personally in January 2008 with the failed election in Kenya. This years winter, i'm told is actually the warmest on record - i beg to differ, it is the coldest, even within the realms on inexperience on my part, for this particular reason - i saw the tombstone that has consigned Africa to its watery grave, never top know peace, never to move forward and never to have the luxury of looking to the past for solutions.
